* Help only when your child actually wants your help.
* Help only as long as there is an absence of anger.
* Tell your child, "I am going to let you work on your own most of the time so that you will know that you can learn even when I am not sitting next to you."
* Help only when your child holds the pencil longer than you do.
* Never work harder on your child's homework than they do.
